Road Trip 2012: en route to Moran (Wyoming)

Image

This leg of the trip was after the snowy range scenic byway. We finally reached Interstate 80 and Rawlins, WY and then took Highway 287 to Moran, WY where the Grand Tetons National park is located.

We were driving through some really nice scenic landscape. We made a few stops to snap some photos. The scenery is breathtaking to me, but I have to drive and reach our destination before it gets really dark because we were in the middle of the desert.

here is one of the snapshots…

then in one of the towns we passed through, it started to rain down but before we were able to leave the town, a rainbow appeared, then it became a double rainbow, so we have to stop and snap some more…

how i wished i have a wide angle lens to capture the whole length of the rainbow…so i have to do what i can with what i have so i took another shot of the rainbow towards the other side…

then as left the town, i was looking for a nice foreground along the highway and decided to stop at this location, but the rainbow is starting to fade away now…

and so we continue to drive to our destination…we reached Moran at already dark I can’t see the sides of the roads no more. but here is another picture at one our stops…i tried to capture the landscape together with the road or highway we are going to take…

and here is a take of the beautiful sky as the sun is coming down…

from what i’ve seen along the highway, i can’t imagine what else is out there to explore. when you have the time to select and compose your shot. i believe this is one like an artist’s or a photographers paradise…

thanks for visiting…

here are some more pics from the trip…

while we picnic at the foot of what a beautiful mountain…

I walked a little bit at a trail leading to lake marie…

a dark cloud was looming and we are about 30 miles out to the nearest interstate, we decided to move out. but the next pull out, we had to pull over…

and this one is by the side of the road…

where we parked out…i noticed this one…looks really old and seemed to tell a story by itself…

then we finally moved out heading to Saratoga and eventually to Rawlins enroute to Moran…long way to go…

Roadtrip 2012: Snowy Range Scenic Byway

Image

on our trip to wyoming to see yellowstone national park, a friend suggested we take the snowy range scenic byway. we can supposed to see snow all year round. so we did.

on our stop at the tourist information as we entered wyoming, we asked some people about the snowy range and we heard that there is not much snow if we ever see one because of the warm winter that we had. but we still went anyway.

We have visitors from the Philippines that we want to show real snow…

So, we entered entered the snowy range via Laramie…

and from there, looks like it’s a really long way…

then we entered Medicine Bow National Forest and one of the stops was at the viewing tower in Libby Flats with a peak of 10,847 ft…

then we made a few more stops by the lake and took some pictures…

This was one of the nicest part of the leg of the roadtrip…hope you enjoyed the pictures…Thanks for viewing…

Big Muddy Brew fest

Image

last weekend I was lucky enough to be gifted with a pass/ticket to enjoy the Big Muddy Brew Fest in Murphysboro, IL thanks to Marilyn and Steve. Here are some of the few shots that I remembered to take while trying to balance the beer cup on one hand and camera on the other…

here is one of the bartender from Cathedral Square Brewery from St. Louis, MO. serving Hail Mary IPA…

look at the menu on tap…

and here is one of the best, one of the strongest i’ve tasted that day…(+ the fact that I’ve tasted 10 or so other flavors already :) @7.8% alcohol

that was a very nice afternoon, indeed…very refreshing!!!

Roadtrip 2012: Buford, WY

Image

this is the first stop of our official road trip of the year, Buford, WY. population= 1. my wife recognized the place from a show she seen on tv and from what was reported, the town is now abandoned. I can’t imagine what life is here when you are by yourself….

amazing record:
- nation’s smallest town
- highest town on Interstate 80 between New York City and San Francisco

so we went inside the town to see what we can find out and found the store was closed and boarded up. we checked the gas station and it was broke. we were the only ones there at that time… and so we left for the next stop…

devils tower indian prayer offerings…

Image

we took a trip to the devils tower to see the magnificent display. we learned that the tower is also sacred to the indians and you can spot at the bottom of the tower hanging by the trees surrounding the base are prayer flags and offerings. they are quiet small and rarely noticeable until you really look for them. here are some of the ones we found along the base.
